Therapy for Adults
Therapy for Adults.
At Mindful Families Australia, we recognise that adulthood brings its own unique pressures, transitions, and challenges. Many adults seek therapy during times of stress, change, uncertainty, or when old patterns begin to feel heavy or unhelpful.
Our role is to offer a safe, respectful, and supportive space where you can explore your experiences, reconnect with your values, and move toward greater clarity, balance, and wellbeing — at a pace that feels right for you.
Who We Support.
Adults may seek therapy for a wide range of reasons, including:
Anxiety, panic, or chronic stress
Low mood or depression
Self-esteem or self-criticism,
Difficulties with focus, motivation, or overwhelm
Emotional regulation challenges
Anger, frustration, or reactivity
Sleep difficulties or fatigue
Grief and loss
Trauma or difficult life experiences
Relationship challenges, separation, or divorce
Personality and values exploration
Challenges at work or burnout
Substance use concerns
Life transitions, including becoming a parent, leaving home, or the “empty nest” stage
You do not need to be in crisis to seek therapy. Many people come simply wanting greater understanding, support, or a different way of relating to themselves and others.
Our Approach with Adults.
Warm, Collaborative & Respectful
We believe therapy works best when it is collaborative and grounded in trust. Our therapists take time to understand your experiences, values, and goals, creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported.
There is no pressure to talk about anything before you are ready. Therapy moves at your pace.
Neurodivergent-Affirming & Trauma-Informed
We proudly offer neurodivergent-affirming therapy for adults, including those with ADHD, autism, or other neurodivergent experiences — diagnosed or self-identified.
Our approach means:
Differences are respected, not pathologised
Masking is never expected
Autonomy, consent, and collaboration are central
Emotional and nervous system safety comes first
Challenges are understood in context
We also work from a trauma-informed lens, recognising how past experiences can shape emotional responses, relationships, and patterns in the present.
Individualised & Holistic
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. We work with you to develop an individualised plan that considers the whole of your life — including relationships, work, lifestyle, health, sleep, social connection, and self-care.
Where relevant, we may also explore family or relational dynamics that continue to influence your wellbeing.
Therapeutic Approaches We Use.
Our practitioners draw on a range of evidence-based therapies, including:
Mindfulness-based and Compassion-Focused approaches
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP)
Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Systemic and relational perspectives
Approaches are selected collaboratively and adapted to suit your individual needs, preferences, and circumstances.
